Humanity has achieved significant success in its pursuit to get from one place to another within the shortest possible time. In the past, horse-drawn carriages and carts used to travel at a hand-gallop along unpaved roads, but now everything has changed. At present, it is dangerous to approach a highway not only for an animal, but also for a creator of an asphalt road and automobile – man. An automobile, intended to help us, has turned into a monster that controls lives of drivers, passengers and those, located amidst clouds of exhaust fumes, in the centre of powerful sound waves.
Gradually, manufacturers joined in the speed race by increasing engine power and load-lifting capacity of heavy-duty trucks. Every new automobile model is equipped with more reliable brakes, and drivers, relying on design engineers, press the accelerator even harder. As a result, to guaranty a pedestrian or animal safety on the road becomes a challenging task.
Every year 1.5 million people die as a result of traffic accidents. By a dozen times more, 15 million people, are severely injured and become handicapped for the same reason. Automobile transport appeared on roads relatively not long ago, just a bit over a century ago, but the number of people, killed in road accidents for these years, can be compared to the number of victims, who perished in bloody wars. At present, all countries of the world try to make attempts, which could help to reduce the mortality rate among pedestrians and drivers, as well as the number of injured on the roads. Punishment for overspeeding, drunk driving, driving without a license becomes more stringent; but is there any positive result? It is unlikely, judging by the fact that in the past decade the number of people killed in road accidents has increased twofold: from one million to two million.
So, how is it possible to reduce the mortality rate without using stringent punishing and restrictive measures? The easiest and the most efficient way to improve the situation is to divide traffic flows and uplift communication routes to the second level.
What benefits can we get from uplifting the height of traffic flow?
It is possible to eliminate intercrossing of differently directed traffic flows if one traffic flow is uplifted in relation to the other by a dozen meters, so as to provide uninterrupted passage of heavy-duty transport. Automobiles, trains, autocranes, agricultural machines will be able to move without any risk of collision with people or animals, without necessity to reduce speed.
Rail automobile, unibus, moves along the rail track, which excludes a possibility of derailment, and consequently, any chance of collision with preceding and oncoming transport. Weather conditions and seasonal factors do not pose even the slightest threat to a unibus.
