The innovative kind of transport allows to carry out high-speed cargo and passenger transportation:
within the city and between cities; between a city and a city airport; over river beds, which cross the city.
Rolling stock within the city and outside it can move at a speed of up to 150 km/h.
It has a high carrying capacity:
for passenger transportation – about 100 people;
for cargo and goods transportation – up to 10 tons.
Declivity of a suspended track can reach 15% with standard configuration and 30% – with special configuration. The distance covered while transportation is at least 200 km.
Volume of high-speed transportation within the city at one transport leg:
for passengers – up to 25,000 people at peak hours;
for cargo – up to 1,000 tons of cargo per 24 hours.
Cost of a high-speed track within the city, calculated excluding the cost of passenger stations, rolling stock and related infrastructure, – from 1.5 mln USD/km.
Net cost of high-speed transportation within the city is decreased within the following indices:
by twofold – compared to the net cost of underground metro transportation;
by 3 times – compared to tram transportation;
by 5 times – compared to a monorail track.
Main competitive advantages.
Significant reduction of capital construction expenses is possible due to the following objective factors:
Decrease in city land area allocated for track laying and infrastructure development; elimination of roadbed, tunnels, overpasses, bridges, multi-level junctions, overground and underground pedestrian crossings out of the transport system; significant reduction of resource intensity in a rail-string overpass compared to urban transport overpasses with a solid roadbed, traditionally used in the city and outside it; absence of necessity to strengthen underlying soils, flatten high relief, consider harsh geographical and climatic conditions.
Reduction of operational expenses is possible due to decrease in the following expenses: for energy and fuel; for operating personnel and their salary; for carrying out repair and restoration and track work; for cleaning track structures from ice and snow in winter.
Savings, resulting from the above factors, leads to twofold net cost reduction for high-speed urban passenger and cargo transportation. There appears a possibility to carry out environmentally sound development of new land territories and to populate hard to reach places, such as islands, mountains, sea shelves, turning them into zones comfortable for people’s dwelling.
There is increased safety of passenger and cargo transportation carried out in poor weather conditions or unfavourable climate. There appears a possibility to combine a track structure and supports with communications lines (fiber-optic, wire, cell, radio-relay), as well as cable and air electric power lines.
