On 30 April, Dubai Ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the city’s infrastructure development projects, offered by UAE's Ministry of Transport (RTA). Among the projects, there is a 15-kilometre SkyWay urban transport system with 21 stations along the rout.

The Dubai Infrastructure Development Program is called «Happiness and Leisure», and together with SkyWay it includes the following projects:

1. The Sky Garden pedestrian bridge which is 380 metres long and 60 metres high. Its area will be 3422 square meters. The bridge will connect the city sights along the coast of the Dubai Bay.

2. Sheikh Zayed Road. The project is the area between the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Metro stations. The construction envisages the creation of a 2.5-km green zone, which will be open for walking and cycling.

3. The project, undertaken by RTA in collaboration with Careem company, for operating 3,500 bicycles at 350 stations in Dubai. This is the first stage-by-stage program for cyclists in the region.

4. The Skypods project, a suspended transit system extending 15 km in length. The plan provides for the construction of 21 stations with the carrying capacity of 8,400 passengers per hour in both directions.

5. The Sunset promenade project, a new beachfront scheme spanning 80ha that will be connected to Jumeirah Beach Walk, oriented for family entertainment.

6. Deira Plaza, a 3.5-ha complex development that will feature public shaded areas for family recreation, as well as the space for outdoor exercise.
